Wood has been the coffee table material of choice for years, however there are so many other material options to choose from. Unsurprisingly, upholstered coffee tables have been rising in popularity because the options are virtually endless. Whether tufted or flat, square or round, vinyl or leather, patterned or solid, upholstered coffee tables are a perfect way to add personality to your space. If you like the idea of multiple coffee tables, try three upholstered poufs or ottomans that can double as extra seating.
Pour some tung oil on the surface of the wood. Work the oil into the wood with a soft cloth until no more oil will not absorb more maybe for 2 hours. Apply a second layer of oil over the first. In general, this coat will require less time to apply, because the pores of the wood are now full. Allow the oil to dry overnight before your teak coffee table.
If your teak coffee table is not new, you must surface to remove dirt before you can apply a finish. Mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid with water in a bucket and clean the timber thoroughly. Allow the wood to dry for 4 hours before continuing. RUB the entire surface of the timber with a copper or brass wool pad. Stick teak brightener to the surface of the wood. Allow the solution to sit for about 10 minutes and then wipe it off with a soft cloth.
The Spice of Life. As with any vignette, variety helps to create interest, and styling the coffee table is no exception! A grouping of items with varying heights, textures, and shapes creates a beautiful display. Try using something tall (like a vase of flowers), something short (a small sculpture or stack of books), something hard (like glass or ceramic), and something soft (plants, flowers, or another organic material). When grouped together, the items take on a somewhat organic and undefined shape.
