The showy website design might have the wow factor and will initially strike at the heart of the consumer community but it has to deliver the fundamentals of website design before it can be taken seriously. The cosmetic look of the website design is useful for first attracting the customer but one needs a bit more before they can get that customer to the shopping basket or to the information request stage.

There has to be some balance in the concentration of effort so that no one particular element is dominating the debate.
