Pour some tung oil on the surface of the wood. Work the oil into the wood with a soft cloth until no more oil will not absorb more maybe for 2 hours. Apply a second layer of oil over the first. In general, this coat will require less time to apply, because the pores of the wood are now full. Allow the oil to dry overnight before your teak coffee table.
Long & Linear. Rectangular coffee tables in particular can be styled with beautiful symmetry using a repetition of objects that runs lengthwise. Look for a commonality among the objects used, such as shape or color, so that no one object competes with another.
If you want to start breaking the rules with the basics, why not try an oversized square table instead, or an elegantly elongated oval? These days, coffee tables come in all shapes and sizes from triangular to hexagonal to the more abstract. When you’re choosing the shape of your coffee table, take cues from the layout of your room and the shape of your sofa and chairs. If your furniture layout is boxy, a square table makes sense. If your space is longer and your furniture layout follows suit, a longer oval or uniquely shaped table might be a better fit.
All four corners can be styled differently, but their visual weight is the roughly same. Sometimes, one corner have a bit more “pop” than the other corners, especially when flowers or another similar organic material are used. There is also sometimes an added element in the center of the table.
